If Only She Had the Time

She needed to read those words,
let her eyes trail over the words,
to let the story sing,
so she could sing it to her self.
She needed to look at the moon,
to study the paleness,
that fell against the velvet night.
She needed to ring that friend,
and simply sigh and laugh,
let her tears show.
She needed to skip through a big paddock,
let long grass slide against her pale skin,
to dance through the breeze.
If only she had the time.
She needed to walk through the hospital corridors,
peek into rooms and see that she was not alone.
She needed to look out of a window,
to see her future.
She needed to look into the sky,
and wonder why this was happening to her.
She needed to live her last days.
If only she had the time.
She could feel it spreading through her veins,
She could feel her breath slow,
She could see her heart monitor bleep.
She wanted to see the world,
If only life wasn't so cruel,
If only sickness never touched our air,
If only wishes came true,
If only she had the time.
